Innovative Products, Unsurpassed Purity
The risk that cosmetics and personal care products may pose to the consumer is generally unknown due to the limited information on exposure or lack of studies on potential health effects. Further shrouding the cosmetics industry is the absence of government regulation of these products. Federal law in the United States requires cosmetics to be "substantiated for safety,” a broad statement that leaves the responsibility of ingredient use and the consequences of that use to the manufacturer's interpretation. Without a mechanism in place to enforce complete disclosure and the long-term health hazards that may result from an ingredient's use, the manufacturer makes their own determination leaving the door open for the pursuit of profit to take priority over the safeguarding of people.
Since its establishment in 2001, Coastal Classic Creations has dedicated its life's work to researching the relationship of ingredients traditionally found in cosmetics and their connection to health problems. Our findings have resulted in substantial evidence linking these ingredients to abnormal cellular growth, cancer, birth defects, damage to the reproductive system, genotoxicity, and neurotoxicity. This includes botanical extracts, ascorbic acid, and fruit pigments, all of which, at first glance, appear to be harmless, "natural" ingredients, but which, in reality, are chemically synthesized derivatives of natural ingredients extracted with propylene glycol. L-Ascorbic acid, also known as sodium ascorbyl phosphate and marketed as "collagen-boosting Vitamin C", is a white to pale beige powder with practically no odor, with 5625 scientific abstracts linking it to cancer of the esophagus, the mammary glands, adenocarcinoma and stomach cancer. This is a far cry from the image of Vitamin C, a vital nutrient, and the prestigious claims that the consumer is using a product which is an "anti-oxidant that can reverse the signs of aging". This is only the tip of the iceberg. We offer a comprehensive look at the work we do and the rationale which supports our endeavors at our Information and Research page. We have taken a no exceptions stance on the use of nanoparticles; however, it is critically important for the consumer to understand that whether or not an ingredient is classifed as a nanoparticle, an organic ingredient, or a natural ingredient, it may still have cell-damaging potential, may increase abnormal cellular growth, may cause birth defects, may cause reproductive harm, may contain levels of metallic debris, or may be a disruptor or irritant. On the subject of preservatives, we do not use parabens or any preservative with toxicant properties. We do not use formaldehyde or formaldehyde-releasing preservatives. We purchase all of our raw materials in small batches with shelf lives of 14 months to three years to indefinite and dispense them well under their shelf life expectancies. To create our products, we use the highest quality, USDA certified organic carrier and therapeutic essential oils; hand-collected, hot water extracted candelilla wax; water-washed and sun-dried clays; USDA certified organic shea and cocoa butter; USDA certified organic palm butter; USDA certified organic, steam distilled organic floral waters; organic, PPD-free, metallic-free, salt-free Henna hair dye; pesticide-free, sewage-free, herbicide-free USDA certified organic hemp and cotton; PVC-free, phthalate-free, aluminum free, and Bisphenol-A free containers; and filtered, high purity pigments free of lead, mercury, arsenic and cyanide. As part of our commitment to caring for our environment, we use biodegradable cornstarch shipping peanuts to package our products. These peanuts are biodegradable in water, soil, and in compost, and leave no toxic waste behind. We use chemically-inert cushioning to wrap our soap and brushes, acid-free, recycled paper for all of our administrative work, no aerosol sprays or genetically modified or altered ingredients. We support organic farming and only purchase our raw materials from companies who share our fair trade philosophy. We use no ingredient that is acquired from deforested lands. We are a cruelty-free company. Our products are free from irradiation, gas, and ozone treatment. Due to the exclusive nature of our products, the time we dedicate to research, and our commitment to volunteer work on behalf of the vulnerable, the ill, and the threatened, we do not sell our products in stores, nor do we sell them to distributors, or resellers. We do not seek out advertisers. Our products are made by a staff in Montara, California, by Coastal Classic Creations, who shaped this company not with a master marketing plan, but with concern for the fragility of life.
