A New Avenue in Cosmetic Expression The risk that cosmetics and personal care products may pose to the consumer is generally unknown due to the limited information on exposure or lack of studies on potential health effects. Further shrouding the cosmetics industry is the absence of government regulation of these products. Federal law in the United States requires cosmetics to be "substantiated for safety,” a broad statement that essentially leaves the responsibility of ingredient use and the consequences of that use to the manufacturer's interpretation. Without a mechanism in place to enforce complete disclosure and the long-term health hazards that may result from an ingredient's use, the manufacturer makes their own determination leaving the door open for the pursuit of profit to take priority over the safeguarding of people with companies using marketing techniques that fly in the face of scientific reason.
Since its establishment in 2001, Coastal Classic Creations has dedicated its mission to the development and production of toxicant-free cosmetics and personal care products providing an alternative to conventional cosmetics. Using the highest quality, USDA certified organic carrier and therapeutic essential oils; hand-collected, hot water extracted candelilla wax; water-washed and sun-dried clays; USDA certified organic shea and cocoa butter; USDA certified organic palm, coffee, mango and orange butter; USDA certified organic, steam distilled organic floral waters; organic, PPD-free, metallic-free, salt-free Henna hair dye; pesticide-free, sewage-free, herbicide-free USDA certified organic hemp and cotton; PVC-free, phthalate-free, aluminum free, and Bisphenol-A free containers; filtered, high purity mineral pigments free of lead, mercury, arsenic, and cyanide; non-propylene-glycol extracted grapefruit seed extract; and phthalate-free, cosmetic grade fragrance oils, we have eliminated the use of nanoparticles, parabens, phthalates, chemically-derived botanical extracts and fruit pigments, and any ingredient with cell-damaging potential, links to tumor promotion, neurotoxicity, endocrine disruption, or reproductive toxicity. The rationale for our work is based on research, not rhetoric, with further information, including scientific data on ingredients we do and do not use in our products, found at our Information & Research page. As part of our commitment to caring for our environment, we do our very best at trying to limit the amount of packaging and labeling we use without sacrificing the safe delivery of the products ordered. We use biodegradable cornstarch shipping peanuts to package our products. These peanuts are biodegradable in water, soil, and in compost, and leave no toxic waste behind. We use chemically-inert cushioning to wrap our soap and brushes, acid-free, recycled paper for all of our administrative work, no aerosol sprays or genetically modified or altered ingredients. We recycle packaging peanuts that have been sent to us to keep the cycle of reuse going. The boxes we use (while sometimes large for the item sent) are supplied by the United States Postal Service to use for priority mail. They are eco-friendly made of recycled material. The United States Postal Service packaging products have been awarded Cradle to Cradle Certification for their ecologically-intelligent design. Cradle to Cradle Certification is awarded to products that pursue an innovative vision of ecologically-intelligent design that eliminates the concept of waste. This USPS Registered Trademark Packaging has been certified for its material content, recyclability, and manufacturing characteristics. We support organic farming and only purchase our raw materials from companies who share our fair trade philosophy. We use no ingredient that is acquired from deforested lands. We are a cruelty-free company. Our products are free from irradiation, gas, and ozone treatment. |
